Located in downtown Toronto the 130foot “Corkscrew” waterslide is encased in a four-story glass tower and is suspended above the street. Swimmers slide through two loops inside the tower, exit the building and re-enter with a splash into the family pool. The “corkscrew” is heated and operates year round. The Delta Chelsea Hotel came to us with the desire to be the only downtown hotel with an interior waterslide. We were able to design and engineer the 130’long slide beginning within a newly constructed atrium, exiting the building and re-entering on a lower level, finishing in their exiting pool. We undertook this project at the end of December 2002 and completed the project for March Break 2003, on time and on budget. The slide is successfully operating today. OTHER DESIGN BUILD PROJECTS Ontario Place
During the past 15 years Somerville Construction has successfully constructed over $16,000,000 of new construction at Ontario Place. The projects have been extremely diverse. From the construction of Ontario
Place's Water Park ( several phases over 5 years) including Toronto skylines
ever visible pink and purple water slides to amusement attractions such
as mini golf, aqua jets, kool hoops and bumper boats. Somerville Construction
also constructed the Riverwalk, The Centre Entrance Complex, Ontario Places
Administration Offices as well as the Maintenance Facility and West Island
Club and Waterfall Stage. The landscape elements of these projects have
always been completed by our forces. HarbourFront Centre’s Water’s EdgE
One of the city’s most visited sites, with more than 3 million visitors each year, The Harbourfront Centre Water’s Edge Revitalization Project’s main focus is to expand and improve public access to Lake Ontario. The project is an integral part of an overall plan by the
Toronto Waterfront Revitalization Corporation to improve the quality of
the public realm on Toronto’s waterfront. The vision was to establish
a continuous water’s edge that is easily accessible and maintains
an obvious consistency in design elements in all public spaces. HarbourFront Centre’s Water’s EdgE FINISHED IMAGES

Phase II of the York Quay revitalization project has been completed and Phase III is currently underway. York Quay has a boardwalk addition and two finger piers along the southern edge. The boardwalk was installed 18 inches lower than the top edge of the granite bench currently in place, making the granite bench an ideal place to sit facing the lake. In addition, the two 6.5 metre (22 feet) fingre piers were extended perpendicularly, 52.5 metres (173 feet) out into the water. Stage III commenced Fall 2005 (more information).

Montessori School Bolton
In 2004 we began and completed the school grounds overhaul for the Toronto Montessori School in Bolton. The main objective was to update the school grounds to provide the students with an environment lush with activity and attractive landscape. We re-developed a large area of the 5acre property that houses the school and yard. A running track and a still-pond were added to the grounds. An existing cabin was relocated and refurbished to better utilize the needs of the school. OTHER LANDSCAPE PROJECTS

Dundas Square
Dundas Square is a unique focal point of Toronto. The Square was designed for use as a public open space and as an events venue. The design is simple. It uses basic geometric shapes and lines to create a sense of equanimity in the heart of the city. Large granite slabs cover most of the one-acre square. It can be configured to accommodate seating and a temporary structure for indoor events. The twenty waterfountains on the Square are computer programmed and can spray water from one to eight feet high. Fibre optic lighting is brought through the center of the boxes of the two rows of geysers to create a cavalcade of light and movement on the water. Project Architect
